Dear Internet

I don’t think I say this enough, but I LOVE you.

Buying Humans

Ok, not really buying, but hiring. I have interviewed and hired people in the past, but its different this time. I am hiring people to work for me and my business – not some disembodied corporate organization.

I’m actually trying to get a few outsourced workers from the Philippines. So far, I have a few interested folks, but I guess they don’t have much experience considering I’m not paying much so its no surprise, you I get what I pay for.

It’s tough though. I only have limited funds, so I really don’t have too much choice.

I’m also having a hell of a time trying to coordinate and have some kind of back end and tasks ready to go once this person(s) is hired. That includes setting up, learning, and teaching how to use a project management system, learning various stuff so I can create training videos for it, and have a list of tasks for the new person to do when they get here.

Management is a lot of work.

I think the first employee will be my catch all, virtual assistant that has a lot of writing duties. And once that’s all set, I’m going to hire more people with specialized skills, i.e. writing, designing, programming, etc.

Overall, I am making some progress. I was previously just worried about preparing, and learning, and more preparing, and just not doing anything with it. But once I put that employment ad out, started contacting people, getting responses, and doing interviews; I am just forced to get my act together and start getting things done. Even though this person will be working for me, I still don’t want to disappoint them.

So things are good. I still feel apprehensive when I wake up, but I am hoping that will go away in time.
